I-Boom 6 met orientator 600

Control the wind at great heights!

Back to overview

Our orientators

Wind remains a major challenge when lifting at great heights. To counter this and extend lifting operations during windy conditions, the orientator is a valuable addition. It can be used as a standalone solution or mounted on a Steker, I-Boom, or spreader beam.

There are three models available — all radio-controlled, battery-powered, and compatible with a wide range of Bomecon lifting systems.

Operation of the Orientator 600

The Orientator 600 is a stand‑alone, battery‑powered unit that can be mounted almost anywhere using four bolts or simply slid over a duct. The unit can rotate in both directions, allowing the load and/or lifting equipment to be oriented and positioned clockwise or counter‑clockwise.

Control can be operated via its own remote control or integrated into the remote control of another lifting device. Thanks to its flexible mounting options, the Orientator 600 can be applied across a wide range of lifting applications.

Orientator 800 and 1000

The Orientator 800 and 1000 consist of two battery‑powered rotating units integrated into a lifting beam. This allows the system to be used independently as an orientating lifting beam, as well as in combination with heavier lifting equipment from Bomecon, such as the I‑Boom 20.

Vita Load Navigator

In addition to battery‑powered rotating units, the Vita Load Navigator is equipped with intelligent software, a GPS module, and additional advanced features. This allows the load to be held autonomously in position or automatically rotated to predefined positions.

As a result, tag lines become unnecessary, working in strong wind conditions remains possible, and no time is lost positioning the load and/or lifting equipment.

IMPACT

ON THE WORK FLOOR

Safety – Personnel no longer need to control or position the load using tag lines. This prevents workers from having to operate in close proximity to a suspended load, follow the load across the construction site, or risk being pulled over by unexpected gusts of wind. With an Orientator, this hazardous process is completely eliminated.

More lifting hours – Wind can cause elements to rotate uncontrollably, especially when the load cannot be reached with tag lines. This can bring the crane and sometimes even the entire crew to a standstill. Depending on the type of Orientator, operations can continue at wind speeds of up to approximately 48 km/h, significantly increasing crane availability and the number of effective lifting hours.

Efficiency – No time is wasted attaching, operating, or repositioning tag lines. Positioning is faster or even fully automatic, resulting in savings in crane time and man‑hours.

Damage prevention – By maintaining control over the rotation and position of the load and lifting equipment at any height, with an accuracy of up to one degree, the risk of damage to equipment, loads, and the building structure is minimized.

ALTERNATIVE

SOLUTIONS

Tag lines – A commonly used alternative to an Orientator is working with tag lines. In this method, a worker manually controls the rotation of the load using a line. This can be effective in simple situations, but it requires the worker to move along with the load and have sufficient free space to do so safely. At greater lifting heights, in confined spaces, or during unexpected gusts of wind, this control becomes less direct and the risk increases. The tag line becomes longer, corrections are slower to take effect, and the worker may be forced closer to the danger zone or may even be pulled off balance.
