Our history

Since 1988 we have changed the way in which a load is brought in. Safer and easier!

Since 1988, enhancing safety and improving working conditions have been the foundation for the development of the "Steker." With this first innovative advancement in the lifting industry, Bomecon introduced a positive change—and we continue to do so.

Dirk van den Bor started as a one-man business, carrying the design of the Steker in his mind. Convinced of the positive impact it could bring to tasks such as maneuvering loads into buildings or placing facades beneath overhangs, he developed his idea and presented it to various equipment services. The first Stekers were soon produced and sold. By structuring customer payment terms slightly shorter than those of suppliers, the business was able to launch. Over time, the company evolved from selling a product or idea into a rental business with a highly versatile fleet, continually adapting to the demand for heavier lifting capacities and more advanced options.

In 1996, Dirk van den Bor was awarded the Eimert Sinoo Prize, an annual award recognizing contributions to improving working conditions in the construction and woodworking industries. This prize, established in 1987 by the Bouw- en Houtbond FNV, honors Eimert Sinoo's legacy of advocating for better labor conditions.

Throughout the years, innovation has remained the driving force behind Bomecon's ability to stand out in the lifting market. Now, 35 years later, the company is led by the second generation—siblings Martijn and Sabine van den Bor—who aim to expand the business internationally. They are determined to make the lifting industry even safer and more efficient, a mission to which we are proud to contribute.
