How do you precisely align and secure heavy precast elements to the underside of an overhang?

This was the challenge Decomo UK brought to us.
We sat down with their team to explore how we could assist. The solution? Combining three different tools into one system, enabling the elements to be installed with the help of a crane. Here's how we tackled it:

     
  1.  Underneath the precast element, we attached an adjustable table arm to hold the element securely in place. This allowed precise alignment with the building’s structure with enough room to secure the element to the building.
  2. The table arm connects to a tool called the Combi-Steker 6500, which works in a comparable way to a counter ballast beam, designed for handling loads under overhangs. By using counterweights and an arm, the Combi-Steker 6500 makes it possible to position loads under overhangs efficiently with the crane.
  3. Between Combi-Steker 6500 and the crane hook, we implemented a 2D balancer. By adjusting chain lengths, this tool allows precise positioning of the Combi-Steker 6500, ensuring each element could be mounted exactly as required.

Solutions like these allow Decomo to push the boundaries of their capabilities and efficiency, while giving Bomecon the opportunity to contribute to ever more complex and ambitious projects.
